Your conversations are yours

Privacy Policy

Effective 4 September 2026

Weirdly Close is designed for private, in-person conversations. It does not create accounts, record answers, use advertising identifiers or sell personal information.

Information stored on your device

Player names for an unfinished game, session progress, settings, favourite prompts and previously seen card identifiers are stored locally so the app can resume games and avoid repeats. This information is not sent to us. It may be included in an encrypted device backup controlled by you and Apple.

You can remove this information using Clear local game data in the app’s Settings, or by deleting the app.

Answers and conversation content

Answers are spoken aloud. The app never requests, records, transcribes, stores or transmits them. Saving a prompt stores only that prompt’s identifier—not anyone’s answer.

Analytics and diagnostics

The current release does not include third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and it does not transmit gameplay analytics to us. Privacy-safe event names may be written to Apple’s local operating-system log. Apple may provide us with aggregated App Store analytics and diagnostic information according to your device and App Store privacy choices.

Purchases

Apple processes optional card-pack purchases. The app receives only the verified entitlement required to unlock purchased content. We never receive your payment-card information. Purchase records, refunds and restoration are managed through your Apple ID under Apple’s terms.

Children and mature content

The app is not directed to children. The optional After Dark pack contains suggestive adult conversation prompts and requires an adult-content acknowledgement before it can be previewed, purchased or used. Every prompt can be skipped.

Sharing, retention and international transfers

We do not sell or share personal data collected through the app because the app does not collect it. Local gameplay information remains on your device until you clear it, delete the app or the operating system removes it. Because the app does not send this information to us, we do not transfer it internationally.

Your privacy rights

We do not hold identifiable app-user data that can be accessed, corrected or deleted on our systems. You control the app’s local information using its Settings. If you contact support, we use the information in your message only to answer your request and retain it only as reasonably necessary for support and legal obligations.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before the changed behaviour is released. The effective date above will also change.
